Been working hard on prepping for the movie since I’ve been out with my foot injury. Trying to go through the script and handle my business with my lines and stuff. The director Brin Hill’s been giving me some assignments to get me thinking about the foster life and having OCD. That’s the stuff that’ll be the hardest… I’m getting real excited about playing Sticky on the big screen though and working with brin should be real nice. If you haven’t seen his short flicks, you should peep them, they’re kinda tight. Below is a still from the joint he did with Pharrell.

If you’ve been peeping de la’s blog, you know that de la’s boy Marquee has been swinging on my jock… I’ve wasted too much time on that kid — if you want my response to that busta, check the comments in de la’s blog… In the meantime, tune into Episode 4 of Team AND1’s summer tour on ESPN tonight (I know Marquee will be)…

Made you look, Marquee…

I know a bunch of you have checked out the teaser for the flick either here or on BDL’s myspace or on you tube. Tell your people to check it. I think it came out real decent considering we did it on the low without no budget to speak of. Director Brin Hill had me running around Venice doing all sorts of stuff, but it was real cool. It gave me a feel for Venice/Santa Monica and for Sticky’s world. He works hard on his game. That’s the one thing that impressed me most — how bad Sticky wants to make it even though he’s got so much wrong with his life. The shot above is one of the training exercises Sticky does to get his handle tight. I like this photo a lot, it really defines Sticky to me personally.

By the time the game rolled around in Houston, I decided that I would stay on the tour to just help promote the games. So once again, I was on the sidelines watching…. But I look at the injury like this, it’s 6-to-8 weeks, not the worst injury ever. I will bounce back and it shouldn’t affect my game. So all I have to do is accept what’s been dealt to me and roll with the punches. I mean compared to someone like Sticky’s mess, this ain’t nuthin’.
After I told myself that, I was good with it. I just look forward to getting back on the court and being better than before. In the meantime, I got some time to prep for the movie and get my game tight.
But anyway, aside from all that, the game was underway. From the tip-off this game was fast-paced with Team AND1 controlling the tempo hands down. AO was getting off throwing some incredible oops and Main Event was getting buckets and dunks as well. The main highlight that came from this game was the ridiculous dunk by Air Up There, the newest guy on our AND1 Team.

Director Brin Hill has been helping me prepare for the role of Sticky in a lotta different ways. We do a whole grip of acting exercises. The purpose of these exercises is to think like Sticky and stay true to who he is. The key to getting it right is living every scene, every moment, and every second with the wants of Sticky.
Here is one of the first exercises we did a long while back. It was an interview with Sticky.

After Denver, we headed down to San Antonio on the buses. Down there, we did an autograph signing at an army base which brought out madd kids! We had 2 sessions at different areas of the base, but at the one were I was at, it was flooded with kids. Had to be a couple-few hundred kids that showed up for autographs which is always a good look for our promotions.
After that we had a practice at the base and allowed everyone to watch as we carried out practice like we always do, playing regular, hard ball. Whether you know it or not, Team AND1 gets down either way, streetball with tricks or regular ball, however it’s wanted.

After the Phoenix game, we headed out to Denver for our rapping up of the west leg of the tour. We decided to hit up a pro-am game while we were in Denver, doing our regular crash the court film session we always do in cities where we hit up a local run – whether if be a local pro-am game or a pick-up run at a famous park – and just play ball like we do best.
We played against a regular pro-am team from Denver that some tough players. Things got ugly for team Denver.
