MAKE IT TO THE SHOW

Friday, August 25th, 2006 by Grayson THE PROFESSOR Boucher

The last of the Steph questions…

What is your ideal night?

Going down to the beach and putting up some jumpers or getting in a one-on-one with someone real tough and battling it out with them…. Then going home and possibly kickin it with some friends or my girl, maybe a get a taste of some lovin’.

What is your biggest hurdle in life? How does that affect you on a daily basis?

My biggest hurdle is that folks don’t really want me and it makes me a little unsure of shit in a lot of instances. I’m tryin’ to stop doin shit over and over again, too.

What is the most traumatic thing you’ve experienced?

Nothing.

What makes you most sad?

My parents.

What is your happiest feeling?

Succeeding at the game of basketball, being with my girl.

What is your happiest day?

The day that I make it to the NBA.

What are your dreams and aspirations? Where do you see yourself in five or ten years?

My dream is to make it to the NBA and in five or ten years, I’ll be playing out my career in the League. Kids will be asking for my autograph and I’ll be paid. Believe that.

BALL NEVER LIES

Thursday, August 24th, 2006 by Grayson THE PROFESSOR Boucher

Sticky takes the good and the bad…

What do you think of cops?

Cops make me nervous. I feel like they are on to me all the time ‘n shit.

What do you think of Crooks?

I think that they probably were raised around other crooks and thieves and that’s what makes them who they are.

What was the worst experience you’ve had a court?

Taking a bad shot at the end of the game and missing it. I felt like I lost the game. But Dante says you gotta take those shots if you’re ever gonna be worth talking about.

sticky at the fence.jpg

What’s your least favorite thing about basketball?

Plain and simple, early morning practice, but that’s only if I got a place worth sleeping in at.

Who is your best friend? Why?

Basketball is my best friend, because it never lies – the ball don’t never lie in this game – it never talks shit and it is loyal if you put the time in on it.

HATERS FIRE ME UP

Wednesday, August 23rd, 2006 by Grayson THE PROFESSOR Boucher

More on the Sticky questions…

What is the weakest part of your game?

Honestly, probably my weight. I need to bulk up to take it the next level…. The skills are there, I just need to get my weight up so I can bang with the big boys a little and take the hits better while still finishing.

What are you working on now?

Trying to bulk up. It’s hard with no ends, but I’ve been known to swipe some protein powder from the muscle store on Main.

What motivates you?

Haters, negative energy, that’s the stuff that makes me want to always feel the need to prove people wrong about myself.

What do you think about rap?

Love it. I’m a huge fan of rap, but I also like some of the stuff my mom turned me on to when I was real young.

What is your favorite city?

Venice I guess. I ain’t never really been nowhere. I’d like to check out Vegas, Chicago and Miami, I bet I’d like those .I seen them on the TV and they all look real decent.

DON’T WANT NO GOLD DIGGERS

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2006 by Grayson THE PROFESSOR Boucher

More Sticky thoughts…

What type of coach is the best motivator for you? How does he teach, explain, and reach you?

I like a coach that motivates more by passion for the game rather than a coach that motivates by blasting your head off. I like more of a Van Gundy than a Bobby Knight. I’ve had both at the JV and Varsity teams and I prefer a coach that is more informational to bring you up rather than a coach that will break you down to bring you up. Like I said, I’ve had both and both can be affective but that’s just what I prefer as a player.

What kind of girl do you date?

No gold diggers. I like girls that are laid back and don’t want too much. I prefer women of color, you know, black, latin, Puerto-Rican, Mexican, Asian, than your basic white girl.

Does your style of play reflect the type of woman you date?

I don’t think it does, LOL.

What is your best move?

A simple hesitation… My first step is quick but it’s the hesitation that really gets the defense on its heels and allows me to do my thing.

YOU TO RECRUIT SOMEONE TO GUARD ME

Sunday, August 20th, 2006 by Grayson THE PROFESSOR Boucher

The S - the T- the I - the C - the K - the Y — It’s STICKY…

Starbury says, “I’ll give up my gold and my girl before I give up my dribble”: Agree? If that’s his credo, do you have a credo? If so, what is it?

I don’t have a credo but I definitely agree with Starbury. You should never let the defense judge when you pick up your dribble. Gotta especially keep the dribble when wack-ass hacks are fouling you all the time.

You seem pretty quiet off the court, are you quiet on the court? Why or why not?

I’m not quiet on the court. Not because I talk trash or anything but because I have to tell people what to do in order to lead.

Does trash-talk get to you, fire you up, or roll right off you?

Trash talk definitely gets me fired up. It makes me want to go after the dude talking.

What’s the best trash talk line he ever heard?

The best smack I ever heard was in a high school game at Venice when this cat was killing our team, scoring every time he touched the rock and he went over to our coach and told him he needed to recruit someone to guard him.

HOOPS IS MY GIRL

Saturday, August 19th, 2006 by Grayson THE PROFESSOR Boucher

Return of the Sticky questionaire….

Who is your favorite author? What is your favorite book and why?

I don’t read ‘cept for when they make me.

What snapshots do you see in your head when you think about your earliest basketball experiences?

When I was a kid, I remember the first time I learned to spin the ball on my finger. I also remember the first time I learned to dribble between my legs. I remember the first time I played in an organized game ‘cause it wasn’t that long ago.

When did you know basketball was your girl?

When I fell in love with it. When I realized that it was an outlet for me to turn my negative energy into positive energy.

I SHAKE YOU

Friday, August 18th, 2006 by Grayson THE PROFESSOR Boucher

More from the Sticky files…

How quickly do you get over a loss?

It usually takes me a day or a night to be completely over a loss. I take it hard but at the same time, I always realize that there’s always a new day while your young. If you dwell on the past too much, it can affect the present and the future. I like to think I got a big future.

What does your favorite play look like? Are you scoring or dishing?

My favorite play is me shaking my defender off the dribble then scoring… To me there’s nothing more gratifying then shaking your defender and hearing the crowd roar and then scoring to get a counter roar.

Describe the term court vision – do you have it?

Court vision is awareness. If you have court vision you are playing the game of basketball, defending, dribbling, scoring, passing and at the same time knowing where the scoring opportunities are as well as the openings in the defense and visualizing the plays before they occur. Of course I have it.

Are you ever nervous? What can cause this condition?

Not usually. I may be nervous until tip-off but then it’s all good. It’s just about being sure of yourself.

HYPE, SHAME & CONTROL

Thursday, August 17th, 2006 by Grayson THE PROFESSOR Boucher

Here are another three answers about ball from Sticky…

Do you hear or feel the crowd when you are playing? When and how?

I hear the crowd when my team goes on big runs as I had mentioned in my favorite moments on the court. I also really hear the crowd when I do a flashy play. You can feel the crowd move with anticipation and then react when I make my move. It’s important to choose the right time to do something flashy during the game. Most kids don’t know that you really gotta pick your spots with stuff like this. ‘Least that’s what Dante is always telling me.

Describe your personal relationship with the guy guarding you and the guy you find yourself guarding in a game?

My relationship with the guy guarding me is not a friendly one. When I play and am guarding someone I really want to give them fits. I want them to be frustrated and I want to embarrass them. So you can imagine how that relationship goes. It ain’t fun for my opponents.

How does the ball feel in your fingertips?

I feel like I’m in complete control with the rock in hand, as if I am going to control the tempo of game shortly, or even the world.
